Mini Mini Fruity Crunchy Coated Gum Pays Tribute to a Bygone Classic!

April 28, 2022 by
Introducing Mini Mini Chicles Fruity Crunchy Coated Gum!

Have you heard of chiclets? Before writing this post, I hadn’t heard about them; maybe we are in the same boat, or perhaps this was your favorite gum as a child.

Either way, thanks to the creative folks at Verburg, a tribute to this historical gum is back! Unfortunately, Chiclets were discontinued in 2016, but now you can get a real taste of one of the most popular chewing gums by introducing our new Mini Mini Chicles Fruity Crunchy Coated Gum!

Everyone has their preference for gum. They want a fruity burst of flavor, a minty breeze, a spicy cinnamon kick, or no gum.

When chewing gum, I often question its existence. Is gum a candy? If not, what is it?

I don’t traditionally think of gum as candy, but what about the fact that we at Candy Favorites sell gum? What about candy-coated gum? After all, the Mini Chicles are sold as Fruity, Crunchy, Coated Gum!

If you have these same questions, I welcome you to this blog post today, for I hope to answer them for both of us.

To answer these questions that this fitting tribute of Chicles has conjured in me, I have to give a little historical background on the Original and, sadly, discontinued Chiclets.

This original Chiclets was first produced in 1900, while its company, The American Chicle Company, was founded in 1899. Thomas Adam, the founder of the company, is credited with coming up with the chiclet gum; however, there are stories that he didn’t have the original idea.

One rumor is that Thomas’s boss chewed a natural gum called chicle when working as a secretary. Another story is that he got the idea from a candy salesman who mentioned putting candy coating on gum to create a new chewing experience. Even though we aren’t entirely sure who came up with the idea for Chiclets, we know that The American Chicle Company was the first to make them!

Chicle gum is made from the natural substance of sap from a sapodilla tree. This sap serves as the base that Chicles are made of. This base is engulfed with a candy coating to finish the final product.

The Original Chicles were tile-shaped pieces of gum that are both crunchy, flavorful, and not like other ordinary gums. Every time you pop a piece in your mouth, your tastebuds wait in anticipation for the crack in the candy coating to unleash the flavor.

Original Chiclets may be gone, but they will not be forgotten after tasting Mini Mini Chicles Fruity Crunchy Coated Gum!

We have a fitting tribute to these sadly discontinued little blasts from the past in the new Mini Mini Chicles Fruity Coated Crunchy Gum – a fitting tribute to Mini Chiclets if there ever was!

The gum comes in a colorful array of colors, for the fruity flavor, including red, green, yellow, orange, and pink, to add that little punch to the overall experience. But, after all, chewing gum is an experience, and to fully appreciate it, we need to understand why we chew gum in the first place!

Chewing gum has been around for a long time and has been used as a ration for soldiers during wars. There have also been studies done that show that gum can help activate neural circuits in your brain that help form memories. So there isn’t a definite answer, but the answer is that chewing is a part of who we are and part of our biology. Chewing gum helps us satiate our need to chew without actually eating food.

I think my research answered my question about gum being candy.

Here is my final answer after doing my deep dive into their history and the long minutes I spent thinking about it: I think that gum is not a candy.

Even with candy coating, I still cannot be convinced, mainly because gum is not swallowed (at least not typically). Gum instead is a satisfying sweet. It is not quite a traditionally defined sweet since it does not fully get consumed, but it is a sweet treat that satiates your sweet tooth.

I feel so lucky that we, Candy Favorites, can provide you all with your satisfying sweets to keep you (including your sweet tooth) happy. We are delighted to be able to reacquaint you and the next generation of candy aficionados with a new twist on an old classic that may be gone in its original form but is indeed not forgotten.

Make sure to let us know your diagnosis of whether you think gum is candy or not (or maybe you are in the middle just like me).

Happy chewing!

CandyFavorites Bag Candy Offerings – 2022

January 27, 2022 by

While some old favorites such as Bulls Eyes, Cow Tails, Red Licorice Laces, Sour Patch Kids, and Watermelons have been “temporarily discontinued” by the manufacturer, we have added new candies at a record pace.

In addition, in January, we switched away from a two-tier pricing system and increased the weights of many of our bags although we maintained the Blue & Red labels as they offer a nostalgic feel to any display.

This new price point offers a better opportunity for retailers and a better value for consumers.

We will soon be adding a Select Label featuring high-end chocolates and hard-to-find retro candies!

As the ol’ saying goes, “for things to remain the same, they must constantly change,” and, all in all, 2022 looks to be a good year for our bag candy label as it heads into its seventh decade!

2022 Valentine’s Day Candy Offerings

January 7, 2022 by

As the Christmas holiday, seasonal candies are in short supply due to supply chain issues. In addition, a majority of the Valentine Candy pre-ordered did not arrive due to export issues and our holiday offerings are a bit leaner than they were in previous years.

The list above highlights candies in stock as of January 7, 2022. There is a possibility that more items will arrive, and all seasonal candies are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.

If you have questions or are interested in special orders, please reach out, as we will do our best to help.

Changes to the CandyFavorites Bag Candy Line in 2022

January 4, 2022 by

January 4, 2022

Dear Valued Customers,

With commodity, labor, and transportation costs rising as never before, we have decided it was time to give our over fifty-year-old bag candy a new look!

To maintain the quality these bags have come to represent; we decided it was better not to make the packs smaller but rather to sell them all at one price point and add new products and offer more generous bags.

Effective January 10, all bag candy – blue and red labels – will be the same price.  This change will allow for a much higher profit margin for the retailer and a better selection in the coming months.

We will also be adding an exciting new line of Select Candies in the coming weeks, including chocolates, nostalgic candy, and other high-end treats. Stay tuned!

Inflation has been a challenge for wholesalers and retailers alike, and we are committed to providing the highest quality of bag candy as we have for decades.

We are excited about this change and hope you are too.

I remain at your service and wish you happiness and health in the coming year!

Sincerely,

Jon H.PRINCE

President

Want to win a CASE of Original Licorice Snaps?

November 27, 2021 by
Who wouldn’t want to win an entire case of Licorice Snaps!

It seems as if since time eternal, or at least since we opened our doors on January 5th, 1927, we have waxed eloquent about the virtues of Licorice Snaps.

They are, perhaps, the most sought after and most requested candy of all times, surpassing sweets such as the Marathon Bar!

As retro candy is all about connecting people with a time when life was easier and sweeter, we thought it might be fun to give one lucky winner an entire CASE, yes 12 bags, of Original Formula Licorice Snaps.

But, you might be asking yourself, what is the catch.

You can win 12 bags of Licorice Snaps by sharing your favorite memories!

Please share with us your favorite memory of this pastel-colored licorice treat, and not only will we share it, but one lucky winner will be chosen on December 18th!

This contest is a perfect opportunity to pay tribute to a beloved candy – almost everyone who seeks out this elusive candy has a pastel candy-coated licorice memory – and hopefully win a prize too!

Please CLICK HERE and write a review of your fondest memory!

Good luck!

Who could imagine a holiday without Brach’s Milk Chocolate Stars?

November 9, 2021 by
Now might be your last chance to enjoy Brach’s Milk Chocolate Stars!

It would be hard to imagine the holidays without a guiding star or, for that matter, Brach’s Milk Chocolate Stars. Their iconic shape is expected on holiday peanut butter cookies, and real milk chocolate taste has been imitated but never surpassed.

Perhaps the best-selling chocolate holiday candy we have offered for several decades, we couldn’t imagine that this product would not be available. And then it wasn’t…..

In the past few years, Brach’s has discontinued many of their beloved and iconic candies. It started a few years ago with Ice Blue Mint Coolers – one of the best-selling bulk candies ever – and the list continues to grow. We share your sorrows…..

Searching high and low, far and wide, we have purchased the remaining inventory of Brach’s Chocolate Stars in oz. Bags.  It may not satisfy all, but it will surely help with holiday cookies and satisfy die-hard chocolate fans!

We are limiting purchases to two bags per customer. We know two bags is not a lot of chocolate, but this will allow everyone a taste of what could possibly be a bygone holiday candy tradition.

When they are gone, we are not sure if they will ever be available again. But, once sold out,  we know Brach’s Stars will not be available for the 2021 holiday season.

Wholesale Candy Supply Chain Update – September 2021

August 30, 2021 by
Sweet News about new candies avaialble in July 2020

Dear Valued Customer,

On your recent order, there may have been items marked “out of stock.”    These shortages are as frustrating to us as they must be to you, and I want to explain.

In the past year, we have experienced unprecedented issues with our supply chain.

This has been especially hard on the candy industry, especially with novelty candy, which comes from other counties, and, surprisingly, everyday items such as Caramel Creams and Swedish Fish, to name but a few.

We also suspect seasonal products will be in short supply as there will be no opportunity to reorder from manufacturers.

These shortages won’t last forever, but market predictions indicate that this will occur for the next 6 months to a year.

We are doing everything possible to get replacement items and keep our valued customers up to date on availability.

As the owner of the company, it is frustrating not to be able to provide the products and services that have been the benchmark of this company for close to one hundred years.

If I can be of personal assistance or if you want “real-time” advice as to what is available, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for your understanding and patience through these trying times.

Sincerely,

Jon H.PRINCE

President
