Who and What Exactly Is Bubs Swedish Candy?

As for where they were first offered, it's a mystery, but their popularity is undeniable!
These quirky, foam-chewy, neon-colored candies have been sneaking into Scandinavian lunchboxes since the 1990s, but they didn't achieve "cult status" until they landed in the United States in 2025.
As to where, when, and how they arrived here remains a mystery.....
Founded in 1992, BUBS is a Swedish candy brand known for its foam gummies, a unique blend of gummi candy and marshmallow, available in a variety of charming and unusual shapes and sizes.
The company was founded by two brothers who were avid candy fanatics and began experimenting with candy formulas when they were teenagers.
Another thing that makes the company unique is its strong commitment to sustainability, whether it produces its candy in Sweden or, more recently, in Mexico.
When possible, the company uses solar energy, recyclable packaging, and green production practices, which are very uncommon in the candy industry!
Most Bubs candies are gelatin-free and use a mixture of cornstarch and foam aeration to achieve their signature bouncy texture.
In Sweden and throughout Europe, "pick and mix" bulk candy is very popular, and that is where Bubs got its start.

Unlike gelatin-based gummi candies such as gummi bears or peach rings, the foam ingredients made them less likely to stick together, which later made them ideal for packaging.
Also, because of their unique ingredients - or perhaps, lack thereof - Bubs are suitable for vegetarians - or vegans - or anyone who has an aversion to products made with gelatin.
In any shape or size, Bubs are chewy yet soft, sour yet sweet, and unmistakable thanks to their classic two-tone colors and goofy shapes.
Bubs' flavors are intentionally bold, not delicate. Scandinavian candy culture loves intense berry, licorice, and sour flavors, so Bubs leans into that with combos like: Banana Toffee, Strawberry Vanilla, Sour Lemon Raspberry, and our favorite, Tutti Fruitti!
They come in a variety of shapes, ranging from Sour "Skalles" - that's Skull in English - as well as Sour Diamonds and Ovals!
We have tried many different candies over the decades, and there is something unique about Swedish-style candy. It's delicious, fun, vegetarian-friendly, and almost impossible to eat just one.
But don't take our word. Try one or all of the four flavors of Bubs Swedish Candy that we offer on CandyFavorites.com and judge for yourself.
"Testa Bubs svenskt godis - du blir inte besviken!"
* For those of you who don't speak Swedish, it translates to "Try Bubs Candy - You Won't Be Disappointed."
