In 1954, as the Cold War was at its height, Nello Ferrera, the son of one of the founders of Ferrera Pan, had a brilliant idea. He wanted to create a panned candy that paid tribute to the times but was also hot & spicy.   

Little did he know that his idea would create one of the most iconic candies of all time and would last for nearly 70 years until they were discontinued in 2023.

Being old-school candy lovers, we cringed when we heard the news but started an uphill quest to find a worthy substitute. 

It wasn't easy, but, in the end, we stumbled upon Tongue Torchers! It was certainly a good day in the candy industry!

Our Tongue Torchers Peg Bags are a good entry point for any retro ,candy store, and while they may not have the cachet of Atomic Fireballs, they are certainly a good substitute!
