The Snickers Almond Bar is the replacement for the classic Mars Bar which was discontinued in 2002.

Here's a fun piece of trivia - The Mars Bar is still sold in the United Kingdom, and in 1998 a man was sentenced to five years in prison after he had stolen eight lorry loads of Mars bars that weighed more than 300 tons and were worth of approximately £70,000 each ($140,000 in US Dollars).

Thank you for your information about the Mars bar being replaced by the Snickers Almond Bar in 2002. We have been shopping for a friend who has recovered from a serious illness, and who was just so hungry for a Mars bar. At 82 years old, I was determined to find one for her, checking candy counters everywhere. Thank you, thank you. I can't wait to take the Snickers Almond bar to her to try.

While the Snickers Almond is very similar to the Mars bar, I am happy to see Mars is coming back. Something with the way they put them together make them much more appealing to my pallet.
