Recently we heard a rumor that Pixy Stix could be discontinued shortly.
While we are still determining the validity of this rumor or what is happening with them, we will continue to update you all as we learn more. Of course, we will also continue to sell them as long as possible.
You only know how good you have it once you lose it.…
That saying can undoubtedly be true for Pixy Stix and my relationship with the sugary candy. I have never been one to love Pixy Stix because I am much more of a chocolate lover. However, since I heard the rumor, I couldn’t stop thinking about the candy and how much I would miss it if it were discontinued.
Pixy Stix has a long history in the candy world and is unique. Losing them would be a loss for candy history and the candy industry. The candy started as a drink mix in the 1930s that was called Frutola.
The sugary mix was intended to be mixed with water to create a sweeter and more enjoyable experience while drinking water. However, kids enjoyed eating the powder straight from the packaging for its strong and sweet flavor instead of being mixed with water.
The creator, John Fish Smith, noticed the enjoyment kids were getting from the powder, and to encourage this, he added a spoon to the packaging and changed the name to Fruzola.
Before Pixy Stix, there was Lik-M-Aid, now known as Fun Dip. Lik-M-Aid came out two years before Pixy Stix. However, the candy is slightly different, but the good news is that Lik-M-Aid is still available.
Instead of just pouring the flavored sugar in your mouth with Lik-M-Aid and Fun Dip, there is a sugar stick that you lick and dip into the powder to eat it.
Pixy Stix didn’t come out until 1952 after being invented in St. Louis, Missouri, by Sunline Inc.
While parents weren’t fond of the sugar tube candy, kids loved it. Its classic flavors include Cherry, Grape, Maui Punch, and Orange
Some additional flavors, such as Cucumber Watermelon – no, not a typo and one of the stranger candy flavors we have come across – and Mango Lime, have been seen since the candy’s debut.
In addition, the classic paper straws filled with flavored sugar are sold under the Wonka brand, inspired by the beloved children’s story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Pixy Stix, similar to Sweetarts, has a sweet and tart flavor profile, giving you the best of both worlds. While it is considered a simple candy, it delivers great flavor.
We hope that this discontinuation of Pixy Stix is just a rumor and nothing more. We have already lost so many beloved candies in the past due to them being discontinued.

So if you are a Pixy Stix lover, I might pick up some extra ones or savor the ones that you have because you never know when they won’t be available anymore.

I have been in touch with Ferrara Candy, makers of the Pixie Sticks and yes, they have been discontinued in stores, but will still be available online through at least the end of December 2023. I was told the only place you might can continue to find some is Dollar Tree. They received the very last shipments out in March-April 2023 and there may be a few stores that still have them in stock.
Did they say WHY they are discontinuing them? For heavens sake everyone is looking for them. Why would you discontinue something so loved???
Welcome to the candy world. So many belovwed candies are discontinued without reason. It’s sad!
Bring back the Pixie Sticks !
I bought them last year for Halloween to enough candy to pass out and kids would choose the pixie sticks over chocolate. This year I decided to get more of them, but after going to five stores I gave up . Then just looked it up on internet to see if I could find any . How disappointing!

I have chronic nausea and also have to take low dosage of chemo weekly for autoimmune deiase. Pixie sticks use to help me so much I have not been able to find them now makes sense.
I have over yrs seen them often then disappear for awhile so I always stocked up. But haven’t been able find any in good 6 months they use to help me so much so its heartbreaking to hear their discounted
The other generic like brands or the big fancy fill ur tube are over priced and and taste not their.
Well I’m going to make my own. Every time I go to a store I look and no pixy sticks. I heard kids were snorting them
I absolutely LOVE the Pixie Stix candy canes!! I bought them 2 yrs in a row, but I haven’t seen any in about 3 yrs. Why take away classic candy like Pixie Stix?? Makes no sense. I hope if/when they discontinue all Pixie Stix candy, it hits them hard where it hurts… in their wallet!! Maybe then they’d get the point & bring all/any PS candy/candy canes back.
please i need my pixie sticks im so lost without them come back i love them
I love my pixie sticks I miss them so much I got used to eating them all the time my grandkids love them my kids did when they were little please bring them back please
Someone on reddit said they contacted the fererro who manufactures them and they said they are putting the candy on hold because it’s been hard to source the ingredients.
Let’s hope that is the truth as we were told that they were permanently discontinued.
i just emailed the company last week, stated not discontinued, but only be sold online, how stupid, only AMAZON have them listed but you are going to pay a lot more than the dollar stores. JUST STUPID !
If Amazon does offer them, they are outdated product as these were discontinued by the manufacturer hence why no one has them! It is sad as Pixy Stix were a classic American candy and a great selling item too!
