Employee Appreciation Day Giveaway

March 1, 2019 by

Anyone who has been in the workforce has a special memory of a favorite employee or employer who had a cache of candy ready for good times or bad.  Perhaps it was a secretary whose candy supply seemed leftover from when the company was founded or maybe it was a boss who, despite a sometimes cranky demeanor, had a ready amount of Hershey’s Kisses on hand.

Perhaps it was a candy bowl in the lunchroom in which the chocolates mysteriously disappeared or a colleague who chewed gum a little too loudly. Whatever your story may be, let us know!

March 1st is Employee Appreciation Day, and we thought it would be fun to broaden the spectrum and open it to employees and employers with a contest in which three lucky winners will win a $25 Sweet Certificate to replenish your office – or maybe personal, we are not judging – candy supply.

Never one to resist a candy-related pun here’s the scoop –

Share with us your sweetest memory about a colleague whose affinity for candy enlightened your day – or maybe ruined your diet – and the best three entries will be awash in candy for at least a few weeks.

Combining appreciation for candy and colleagues is a fun way to pay tribute to all of the parts that keep the workforce gears moving, and we look forward to hearing your story, the more outlandish, the better!

Entries must be submitted by Friday, March 7th 2019. Winners will be contacted via email on Monday, March 10th 2019. Sweet Certificate only redeemable at Candyfavorites.com

Being one who gets sick alot due to a medical condition, I would always buy Hot Tamales to break up my sinuses. ( Don’t laugh. It works ) My boss would always laugh at me claiming it was ” poor man’s sinus medicine.” He would constantly pick on me over it. All of co workers would hold out their hand for a few of the candy when they were feeling sinus congestion coming on and the boss would just scoff, laughing at us for thinking candy could do such magic. Then the day came. The boss was so sick with a sinus infection and no medicine was helping to break up the congestion and he was miserable. He sat down at my desk and just looked at me. I asked him if I could help him and in a low sorrowful voice he said ” I apologize for always picking on you over your Hot Tamales. I feel so bad. Could you let me borrow a few? ” ( Borrow? was he planning on giving them BACK??? ) He went on to say ” no medicine is working. I don’t know what more to do. I’m willing to try anything. If these candies work, I will apologize to you in front of everyone for doubting what you’ve claimed. ” So I gave him a handful and told him to use them sparingly and just let them take their time. He got up and left my desk and we all went about our day. About 2 hours later, he calls my phone and asks if I have any tissues and if so, could I bring them to him. I grabbed the box on my desk and walked to his office. There I found him with his head down on the desk and used tissues EVERYWHERE around his desk. He lifted a hand said ” just leave them. and thank you. ” I did and I left. Not longer after his secretary comes out by my desk and she’s laughing. I looked up and she whispered to me ” You know why Mr. ” no name ” had his down don’t ya? ” I said no. She said ” he was that way because the Hot Tamales broke up the congestion so much, and he ran out of tissues, that one big snot bubble got out of control and it was hanging from his nose and almost touching his shoes. ” I wanted to laugh, but I couldn’t. That had to be embarrassing to Mr. ” no name “. The next day, he gathered us all in the lunch room and called me up to stand by him. I got the apology he offered and never again did he doubt my claim about Hot Tamales. He now keeps a dish of them on his desk. 🙂

Our workplace has a sweet tooth and loves candy and work with residents that do not have a life and we love to share candy with them and make them special

I think that Beth should win! But this past Valentine’s Day we had a “Bring bakes goodies” day. Someone brought in I swear 15 bags of Valentines shaped candies. That then extended to a large jar full of kisses for a “Guess how many” contest. There is still candy left over.

Every year my spouse is the one everyone comes running to. My mother makes hard tack candy at the start of the holidays and sends enough to give everyone in shouting distance cavities. Even people who have transferred to offices in other states still inquire years later.
