Upon seeing these two candies all wrapped up in their metallic gold wrappers I assumed them to be virtually the same, one being chocolate and the other being the plain butter toffee. But you know what they say about assumptions… and I should have known. Though similar in name these candies have a longer list of differences than they do similarities.
The pure Brach’s Golden Treasures Butter Toffee candies are manufactured in a perfect, consistent oval shape. This candy is hard and crunchy but also soft and smooth, and quite tasty if I do say so myself.
The Brach’s Chocolate Butter Toffee looks like a completely different candy. Aesthetically it looks almost as if it had been chewed up and spit back out to be re-wrapped. This candy is a nugget of chocolate covered in a soft and chewy coating of butter toffee.
If I were to state my opinion, I would have to say that I like the crunchy butter toffee better for its clean, pure flavor, but if you favor the chewy chocolatey candies then you could very well disagree with me. Whatever way you go, Brach’s has got the butter toffee on lock down, ready to please the both those with the taste for crunch and the taste for chew.
