Peppermint Life Savers are also known as Pep-O-Mint. They offer a sharp peppermint flavor in a refreshing white hard mint that we all know so well.
In 1912, Life Savers got its name from its circular ring shape which resembles a life preserver that is often found on ships.
Can you believe that Clarence Crane, the inventor of Lifesavers, sold his rights to this candy for $3000 as he didn't think that the mints would be as popular as the chocolate that was the mainstay of his business?
Due to the durability and refreshing qualities of Peppermint Lifesavers, they were issued to troops who served in the first and second World Wars

I love pep o mint Lifesavers. When I worked I always had a roll in my pocket and when I had a meeting I would share them.. To this day I have a roll in my pocket. I do miss the foil around the whole roll instead of tearing open the package.
We agree that the foil added a classy touch to Lifesavers. A good meeting is not the same without of these candies!

I forgot how chocolatey it is! I haven’t had one since the late 70’s-80’s. I wonder why we no longer see them in our stores?
