Details
Original Bubble Yum is considered the first soft bubble gum! Upon its release in 1975, this became one of the best selling gums overnight. However, sales took a temporary toll a few years later due to a rumor that spider eggs were the ingredient used to create the soft texture.
Fortunately, this rumor was started before the internet so the manufacturers were able to quickly mount a public relations campaign with the end result being that Bubble Yum became more popular than ever! Learn more about this repulsive rumor here.
35 years later, it still remains one of the best selling bubble gum brands on the planet which goes to show that good news travels fast.
