Over our ninety-three years, many beloved candies have come and gone. Some disappear below the radar, others not.
In recent years, the list of discontinued candies has included favorites such as Brach's Ice Blue Mints, Clark Bars, Sky Bars, and all products made by what was once America's oldest and most fabled candy company, New England Confectionary Company. We thought it was a mistake when we heard in 2018 that NECCO's beloved candies were no longer but, alas, this rumor was true. After all, they made classics such as Banana Splits, Mary Janes, Peppermint and Wintergreen Lozenges, and one of the most famous sweets of all times, Necco Wafers. In a split second, the landscape of retro candy counters lost some of the most "retro" candies of all time!
There is no disputing that NECCO WAFERS are one of the great All American Candies, if not one of the most polarizing. You either love 'em or hate 'em and few candies have elicited as many responses. To share your NECCO memory, please click here.
Imagine our elation when we heard that NECCO Wafers were making a comeback in 2020. Spangler purchased the formula, and release is scheduled for late July. The flavors remain the same - file that under, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" - and there is a rumor that the chocolate formula is enhanced to have more cocoa flavoring! That's good news.
The bad news is that supplies are VERY limited and we expect our first shipment to sell out immediately. That is why we are offering a pre-sale. The limit is 2 per purchase, and they are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. To pre-order NECCO WAFERS for shipment in July, please click here.
Snooze, you lose.....
