Safe Trick or Treating Tips

Halloween is one of our favorite holidays and nothing is better than a bag full of goodies but we encourage you to be safe when “trick or treating.”

Below are a few tips that we suggest to ensure a fun and safe holiday:

1. Never “trick or treat” without an adult supervising and, if possible, stay on the sidewalk or in illuminated areas.
2. When planning your costume, please make sure that you can see clearly if you are wearing a mask and wear comfortable walking shoes
3. If the house that you approach has a cat or dog, please do not pet or touch it without the owner’s consent and supervision
4. If you are “trick or treating” at night, it would be wise for parents to bring a flashlight and for children to have glow sticks or a similar illuminating device
5. If possible, children should have a cellular phone or whistle in the event that they get separated from their parents
6. Please make sure that all edible items are carefully inspected by an adult prior to consumption.

If there is evidence that a package has been tampered with or is unsealed, discard it immediately.

If you follow these simple guidelines, it will greatly enhance the possibility that your Halloween excursion is safe and successful.
