If you grew up reaching into a bag of Sunkist Fruit Gems, we have some news that might just break your heart
As the OLDEST wholesale candy company in the nation, we have seen - too - many candies come and go but we were shocked when notified that these gorgeous, jewel-colored candies have officially been discontinued by the manufacturer!
Yes, really. We couldn't believe it either!
Believe it or not, Fruit Gems have been around since 1955, when the Ben Myerson Candy Company first brought them to the masses.
They weren't the inventors of the candy, as that occurred about a decade earlier, but they were responsible for putting this candy in the spotlight!
In 1966, Sunkist Growers came knocking; Jelly Belly made a licensing deal with Sunkist Growers, one of the largest fruit producers in the United States, and the candy got its now-famous name.
Fun fact: it was one of the first major cross-marketing deals in candy history.
Fast forward to 2006, when Jelly Belly took over the brand and added kosher certification — making Fruit Gems a go-to treat for holidays, celebrations, and just-because snacking.
But here's the heartbreaking part, so have your tissues ready.....
Jelly Belly is now owned by Ferrara, and in August 2026, they've decided to pull the plug on this classic. We literally had to read the news twice because we couldn't believe it.
So if you've got a bag stashed somewhere — cherish it, because it's delicious, and it may just become a collector's item one day...
Also, please give Sunsations a try too, as they're kosher-certified and equally delicious!
We have a VERY LIMITED QUANTITY available, so stock up while supplies last....because they won't last long.
