Meet the Lovely M&M’s Characters

October 11, 2023 by

My favorite thing about M&M’s is the candy’s personality, partly due to their sweet “spokescandies.”

In honor of National M&M’s Day on October 12th, let’s learn a little about each spokescandy.

First, we have RED.

Red represents regular Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Peanut Butter, and Crispy M&M’s. Red is best known for his egotistical nature but also for being a perfectionist. Red has existed since the beginning of M&M’s spokescandies in the 1990s.

Overall, Red is sarcastic and self-centered and always steals the show whenever possible. If we had to guess, his horoscope sign would be an LEO.

Then there is YELLOW.

Yellow, another original member of the spokescandies cast, is the exact opposite of Red. He is friendly and often a bit gullible. Yellow is somewhat nutty because he represents Peanut and Dark chocolate peanut M&M’s.

He provides some goofiness to the spokescandies and always knows how to make the best of a tense moment.

Next is the BLUE.

Blue is the calm M&M, balancing Red’s tenseness and Yellow’s goofiness. Blue likes to go with the flow and not take life too seriously.

He represents the Almond, Raspberry, Dark Chocolate, and Hazelnut M&M’s.

The last original M&M is GREEN.

She is relaxed, confident, and the FIRST female M&M and has worked hard to dispel the myths behind the candy she represents.

The Green M&M takes her confidence everywhere she goes and seeks to see more women in leading roles worldwide.

She represents Dark Chocolate, Mint, and Peanut Butter M&M’s.

Overall, Green is a supportive friend to those who need her and loves to see other people succeed. Let’s call her a “sweet” role model!

The following added spokescandy was ORANGE.

Orange is best known for his anxious ways. Almost anything will make Orange nervous, adding a new characteristic to the spokescandy cast when he joined.

He represents the Crispy and Pretzel M&M’s.

Later, BROWN was added in 2012.

Brown is the boss.

She is the only spokescandy who wears glasses and first appeared during the M&M’s commercial for Super Bowl XLVI.

Often annoyed by immaturity and messing around, Brown is more sophisticated than her spokescandy counterparts.

She represents Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, and Fudge Brownie M&M’s.

Then there is PURPLE.

Purple was recently added to the M&M’s spokescandies line this past year.

Purple is carefree and likes to have fun, but she also uplifts her fellow M&M’s. She embraces her flaws and lets them empower her.

She represents Peanut, Caramel Cold Brew, Vegan, and Hazelnut M&M’s.

All of these spokescandies show the different characteristics that are within all of us.

Red represents sarcasm. Yellow represents pure joy. Blue represents calmness. Green represents confidence. Orange represents anxiety. Brown represents maturity. Purple represents quirkiness.

While many may see them as silly, the M&M’s spokescandies teach us an important lesson: TO EMBRACE OUR SWEET SELVES AND TO LEARN AND BE TOLERANT TO THOSE AMONGST US.
