Each candy has a time in the year when it’s “in season,” almost like fruit. Instead of growing conditions, we have taste bud conditions.
While every candy can be eaten in any season and still be delicious, there are certain times of the year when the candy tastes even better.
For example, it might feel odd to eat a candy cane in the summer unless you are celebrating Christmas in July, and while eating jelly beans in any other season than spring wouldn’t feel wrong, it just wouldn’t feel right.
Jelly beans are a symbol of spring, a symbol of growth, Easter Bunnies, and sunshine. Unfortunately, as we wrote in many recent blog posts, although supply chains are returning to normal, we still face shortages often of products that we take for granted!
Unfortunately, for this upcoming spring season, we may face a shortage of our beloved jelly beans because of a shortage of starch. Due to the war in Ukraine, which supplies a large portion of the world’s wheat supply, starch is in very short supply. Who knew?
Brands such as Just Born will not be making pectin Teenie Beanies. We couldn’t believe this either.
Sunrise Confections, one of the largest confectionary producers, will not be making more of their beloved jelly beans – Black, Fruit, and Spice – once their initial batch is gone and Brach’s Jelly Beans, like all of their products, have become increasingly hard to find!
While we are just as disappointed as our jelly bean-loving customers, we have a limited supply, so we encourage you to scoop them up while supplies last!
This upcoming spring season, we will have almost every “other” kind of candy egg to offer, except the ones you have to keep in the fridge.
There are eggs filled with Swedish Fish, Cadbury Creme Eggs in many variations, Twix Eggs, and even Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs. There will be Peeps of all colors, and we even have chocolate-covered Peeps.
We will also have chocolate bunnies of all different shapes, sizes, and flavors. In addition, many different Easter candy mixes are delicious and festive.
However, there is no need to fear.
We will still have many other delicious spring candies in stock, ready to be eaten! So there will still be a sweet spring even when faced with a short supply of jelly beans

horrible, just horrible and not acceptable. every year my kids in my family look forward to just boring jellybeans for years. This is so disappointing and they will be more disappointed when they don’t find them in their Easter baskets horrible.
Sadly, everything is related to everything else. The main ingredient in jelly beans in starch which comes from wheat and 60 percent of all wheat comes from Ukraine. Sadly, it all goes hand in hand. Let’s hope this shortage is temporary!
Why don’t you use USA wheat starch???? Then you wouldn’t have to rely on other countries !!!!!
This is very sad. Every Easter my family from me to my great neicez and nephew look forward to ther basket and the bag of jelly beans. I eat all but black one I alway have on hand they help with my heart burn. And also just born is Gulten free and that all I can eat. I been to jersey all over South Carolina Georgia Florida and can not find then. So sad
Or use corn starch. I strongly believe the USA need to get back to being self sufficient!!!.

Yes we all love traditions like jelly beans at Easter.
However, instead of thinking of ourselves and the inconvenience of not having jelly beans….how selfish!
Think of what this country and these people are going through…towns under attack, people and children dying and you’re complaining about not having jelly beans! So you children won’t have jelly beans this year…..these people don’t have homes and some children don’t have parents.
I try to always be kind and compassionate….that’s not to say I don’t make mistakes or get upset about some things……but jelly beans, REALLY!
There’s plenty of wheat grown right here in the USA. Could it be that this jelly bean shortage is simply a manufactured “shortage” to drive up prices of those addicted to sugar-filled candy? Hmmm 🤔… Stranger conspiracies have been drummed up to get people to hoard such delicacies.
I never had problems getting jelly beans when Donald Trump was in the White House.
Thats right let’s keep things in the US we dont need to depend on other Countries for products. When it’s as important as our black jelly beans.

Boy OH Boy!! … I KNOW few things are sacred & change is inevitable, BUT Brachs LICORICE Jelly beans!! OMG … REALLY!!! I hv searched the aisles & bags of Brachs for a sight of licorice(?). SO disappointed to discover they no longer exist!! 🫣
I don’t think you have the right to still call the ‘Classic’ as the classic had the black jellybeans; my favorite!! And Brach’s WAS my favorite. No longer!!!
i want my freaked brachs orchard flavored jelly beans. for 3 years i have not been able to find them get off your duff brach and make my freaked orchard jelly beans.
