About the Goose that laid the Golden (Brach’s Marshmallow Easter Hunt) Egg

March 15, 2019 by

It may not be laid by a mythical Golden Goose, but Brach’s Marshmallow Easter Hunt Eggs are pretty much the proverbial “golden egg” when it comes to Easter candy even if they only come in soft pastel shades. They are also among the hardest to find.  So, why are these eggs so special?

Brach’s Marshmallow Hunt Eggs have longer been a must in any well stocked basket.

For over 50 years, our wholesale division has been selling these colorful oversized sugar laden eggs, and they have changed little over the years.   The size has gotten smaller – name us a candy which hasn’t – but the colors and taste have remained consistent with the hard candy outer shell covering soft marshmallow. Flavors combinations don’t often get better.

Like many “cult” candies, they can be divisive.  Some claim that they taste better when they are soft to the touch while others claim “Hunt eggs” are better when slightly hard. This argument applies to another marshmallow based Easter candy, Peeps.  There may not be an answer to this esoteric question, but there is no doubt that they are one, if not the, most sought after Easter candy that we offer.  (for the record, we prefer them slightly crunchy)

Did you know that we are one of the oldest Brach’s Candy distributors in the nation!

Since Day One, whenever that may have been, each bag contained a rainbow of colors and flavors.  In 2019, the color assortment features Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, and White with delightful tastes such as Grape, Lemon, Lime, Orange, Raspberry, Strawberry, and Vanilla.  Each piece is individually wrapped making them perfect for Easter Egg Hunts hence their name.

We have a customer who dropped them out of a helicopter, another who tossed them from the top of a Ferris Wheel and one who scattered them over a nine-hole golf course!   Of course, you don’t have to go to lengths to enjoy them. They taste just as good when included in an Easter Basket or put in a colleagues candy jar or retrieved from your briefcase or purse or found a few months later in a desk drawer.

Although increasingly hard to find, these delightful Easter Candy have brought joy to many generations, and we hope this continues as Easter wouldn’t be the same without a colorful Brach’s Marshmallow Egg.  Let’s hope we don’t lose the Goose who laid them!

I have loved Brachs Marshmallow Bunny Eggs since I was a kid. I hope you never stop making them. They are so hard to find, though. I try and stock up when I do run across them.
The purple and blue ones are my favorite flavors.

The Brachs Easter Hide and Seek Eggs are my favorite of all candies for any season. The past few years I’ve purchased the eggs from various wholesalers. Sometimes they were arrived old and too hard to eat. Other times they were fresh and delicious. Either way I was thankful to have found them. Please don’t stop making them. The candy eggs remind me of my childhood.

It seems to me, every season there’s one candy that is deliberately hard to find, and I have to hunt through all of Manhattan to find the few stores that have them. On top of that, they seem to change the name every year, so these Easter Egg Hunt eggs are one of them (formerly called “Bunny Basket Eggs, ” and I forget what came before). I did notice that this year the eggs and the packages were smaller. But its nice to know they’re still here! They fill me, and my dentist, with joy!

Sadly, you won’t find them as brachs discontinued them in 2022!

For now, sadly, your search is over. We hope that they return one of the years like so,many other great Brach’s products.

Oh no! I love these candies! 2 years ago I bought about 50 bags! I am down to only 10 to 15 bags left. They are still as soft as they were when I first bought them. They need to bring them back soon!

From your mouth to their marketing company’s ears. Brachs has discontinued almost all of their product over the past few years. Sad…

I found some at a small candy shop in Hyannis Port, Ma. I just did a Google search and found another small candy shop in MA that has them. Stage Stop Candy

If they do have them, they are at least a year old as they were discontinued a few years ago. Buyer beware!

    These weren’t Brachs brand.

SO sad to hear they’ve been discontinued. I loved them as a kid, the Easter Bunny brought them to my kids, and now all grown up they and I still loved them. What can we do to convince Brach’s to bring them back????

If I’d known they were going to be discontinued, I’d have bought all I could on Amazon last year! I’m heartbroken. My favorite Easter candy of all time! Actually, my favorite CANDY of all time. Please bring it back.

Good question and one asked by many candy lovers! Brachs has all but disappeared in the last decades and it doesn’t appear as if the Hunt Eggs are coming back….but you never know!

Bad news. Feel like crying. Although I only ate a few it was the only candy I always wanted at Easter. Wow. Bring ‘em back for Fourth of July. All red white and blue! Then at Christmas red and green. Come on!!!

Not surprising. Brachs is now owned by Ferrara. These are the same jerks that changed the butterfinger recipe.

It seems Brach’s is trying to compete with Jellybelly. I’m not a fan of jellybeans, but I was a devoted lover of this candy. Ever since I was a little girl. I am now 60. And I am pouting over candy. First Brach’s Bonbons, now this? Ouch.

Just want to say I know one person who is my Sister who is devastated. She is so hurt she said she don’t want to go to work… she said she loves those delicious and colorful candies. They melt in her mouth and leaves a bright colorful stain on her finger tips. She asked if the price of eggs caused this problem….This candy has been around for a long time. Brach please surprise us with Easter Egg Hunt Marshmellows Eggs for 2023….before the fall…

These candy covered marshmallow eggs have been a favorite since I was a kid. They have been enjoyed by my children and grandchildren. Hate to see them go. Hope someone starts making them again.
