A coffee that flew under the radar for a while until a bunch of roasters discovered its beauty. Good body (not as much as Javas), and a good bit of acidity for an island coffee, this bean has a nice spiciness with floral tones, with strong hints of cocoa chocolate and caramel on the finish. This coffee is much cleaner in the cup than most Sumatra’s.
Papua New Guinea Purosa A is grown by a cooperative of farmers in the eastern, volcanic highlands of Papua New Guinea at a remarkable altitude of 1800m. This unique coffee is wet-processed and brighter than the earthy, “wet-hulled” Sulawesi’s and Sumatra’s. This coffee is certified organically grown and certified Fair Trade, meaning it was purchased from small-holding farmers at a "fair" or economically sustainable price.
It was produced by a cooperative of 2,600 farmers of the Highlands Organic Agricultural Co-operative (HOAC) in the respected Purosa-Okapa region. Papua has a moderate to full body, with a medium, bright and crisp acidity. Tasting notes contain a floral, caramel, spice and cocoa finish.
