Over the years, Oh Henry Candy Bars have been associated with Hank Aaron the baseball player, and O.Henry the author. The candy may have been introduced in 1920 - if you are confused, read further - and, in reality, its name came from a young man who used to come to the candy store where chocolate was being made and sold.

Here's some interesting trivia that further sheds light on the origins of the O’Henry Bar postulating that this delicious chocolate and peanut amalgamation may trace its roots back to Incan culture.

Hiram Bingham, in his 1911 book, “Last City of the Incas,” highlighting the creation of Machu Picchu Last City of the Incas, mentions on Page 140 that natives made his group an emergency ration consisting of crude candy sugar and a handful of roasted peanuts placed in an oblong-shaped log of hardwood which the explorers enjoyed on their return journey.

This timeline coincides with an unverified account of a similar candy – The Tom Henry Bar - being invented in 1910 which gives credibility to the O’Henry Bar being mentioned in a 1915 Tom Swift novel that said it was used an “energy bar” during the First World War.

Regardless of where the name came from, this candy bar fills all the criteria for being delicious with peanuts, caramel, and rich milk chocolate!
