PEZ candy was invented in 1927, which you may or may not know is the same year that McKeesport Candy Co. was founded (what a good year for candy).

The PEZ dispenser, created in 1948, was originally marketed in cigarette lighter-shaped packaging and sold as an alternative to smoking, but when the beloved PEZ dispenser design that we sell today was introduced in the 1950’s, it quickly became a pop culture sensation. In fact, Christie’s held a pop culture auction in 1993 and featured collectible PEZ dispensers. What a coup.
