Founded as D. Goldenberg, Inc. in 1890 by Romanian immigrant David Goldenberg, the company initially produced a wide variety of candies including fudge, marshmallows, lollipops, chocolates, and a chewy peanut confection that later became known as Peanut Chews®.

In the mid-40s, Davidës son Harry Goldenberg bought the Peanut Chews® division and, with his wife Sylvia, began the business which continues today.

Together they decided to focus on a single product line...the dark-coated Peanut Chews®.

Later they added a milk-coated piece and called it Chew-ets®.

Today both Peanut Chews® and Chew-ets® (which are marketed as Milk Chocolatey Peanut Chews® domestically) are still made according to the century-old family recipe, in Philadelphia, Pa.
