Bazooka Bubble Gum
No self respecting bubble gum section wouldn’t pay homage to Bazooka Joe who has consistently represented Bazooka Bubble Gum, which is arguably the most famous bubble gum on planet Earth, for well over sixty years. Bazooka Joe is a bit younger than the brand as he first made his appearance in 1953 and has been aging gracefully ever since much like Robert Redford.
What makes this bubble gum unique is that the formula is almost exactly the same as it was when it was first released and the brand is still owned by Topps who was the original manufacturer. Few products, if any, can make such a lofty claim!
As the brand was introduced after the Second World War, it was assumed that Bazooka was a reference to a military weapon but this is not true. It was actually named after an unusual musical instrument which you most likely won’t find being played at your local symphony.
Bazooka Bubble Gum is available all over the world – after all, it is one of the best selling bubble gums - and if you are in countries as far away as Israel, don’t be surprised if you need a translator to help you figure out what the comic is saying!
