Orange Slice Cookies
This is a delicious chewy cookie, ideal for lunches at school and work. (We took them to a University of Pittsburgh tailgate party.)
- 1 cup chopped Brach's Hi-C Orange Slices (we found them in the bulk candy case and
chopped each one into five pieces) - 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup coconut
- 3 cups corn flakes
- 1 stick margarine or butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix the candy, pecans, coconut and corn flakes; set aside.
Cream butter, sugars, vanilla and eggs. Sift together the dry ingredients. Add to the creamed mixture, mix well. Stir in the orange slice mixture. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. (We used parchment paper and our medium cookie scoop. The cookies flatten and spread.)
Bake for 12 minutes. Makes 5 dozen.

Bradley's Famous Fudge
Bradley Prince, Jon Prince's oldest brother, created this favorite family recipe. This is a wonderful candy recipe -- especially for people without a candy thermometer.
- 1/4 pound (1 stick) butter
- 12 ounces evaporated milk
- Pinch salt
- 4 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 ounces Nestle Choco-Bake (two packets)
- 7-ounce jar marshmallow creme
- 12 ounces Nestle semisweet morsels
- 11 1/2 ounces milk chocolate morsels
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chopped nuts (we used walnuts)
In a 4- to 5-quart pot, melt butter, then add evaporated milk.
Stir in pinch of salt and the sugar. Simmer mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly for 5 minutes. Remove from burner and stir in marshmallow creme.
Continue stirring while adding Choco-Bake, milk chocolate morsels and semi-sweet morsels.
Add vanilla and continue stirring mixture while combining with chopped nuts.
Note: Mixture thickens quickly after addition of vanilla.
Pour mixture into greased pan(s) (two 8-by-8-inch or one 9-by-13-inch).
Allow to cool at room temperature and then cut fudge into small squares. Recipe makes 5 pounds.
To make Super Peanut Butter Fudge: Substitute peanut butter morsels for chocolate morsels and Choco-Bake.
