Butterfinger has quite an unusual history and as the brand was originally owned by the Curtiss Candy Company who introduced it in 1923 and it was then acquired by Nabisco in 1981. Here's the twist - The original recipe for both Baby Ruth and Butterfingers was lost after the purchase. People that remember the old formula call this a tragedy while others claim the opposite.
When the original manufacturer was contacted, no one could remember the formula hence the candy bar that we enjoy today does not taste like the original that was offered over 80 years ago! It may look the same but the formula is totally different.
The good news is that the makeshift recipe pleased candy lovers and Butterfinger has gone on to be one of the best selling candy bars of all times!
CandyFavorites.com offers the internet's largest candy selection and we would love customers to share childhood memories and thoughts about sweets from their past.
As a bonus, we will choose one (1) review a week, based on creativity and originality, and award the author a $10 Sweetcertificate Gift Voucher!
