IN SEARCH OF silver candy bar wrappers

EXTRA, EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT – The search for the elusive silver candy bar wrapper is over!

We get tons of requests for candy bars with a silver foil wrapper and, sadly, with the exception of the M&M Amazing Bar, they are no longer being produced.

Hershey Bars and Nestle Crunch are now packaged in a sealed plastic package as are almost every other candy bar on the market.

It’s a sad state of affairs when you have a better chance of finding a gold ticket, good for $10,000, in a Wonka Bar than you do of finding a classic candy bar wraped in silver foil.

Silver wrapped Candy…………those days have gone, except for a small pocket of the world, it’s sometimes lost & stands still in time. Where you ask? It’s the U.K.!! They have tried but the British Out Cry Was Too Much for Nestle. Old People Picketed the Ye Olde Sweet Shoppe; they saved the foil all year to cover the Turkey at Christmas!! Kids used to do fantastic tricks with the Wrapping! Pray what can this elusive Candy Bar be I hear you cry, something obscure that only Ye Olde English can eat ??? But it’s the humble 2 Finger Kit Kat! Yep when you can’t afford all 4 Fingers, 2 finger Kit Kat’s are still wrapped in Silver Foil! And Polo’s the mint with the hole!! So fear not one Small Island is standing up for the SILVER WRAPPED CANDY BAR!!

Can anyone tell me how I can get my hands on a pack of Beechnut Gum? I have heard that Nabisco Kraft discontinued the gum in 1995, but somewhere there must be an old pack floating around. I have tried ebay and some nostalgic candy sites with now luck. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks so much.

Sadly, it was a classic gum but, alas, like so many other retro candy favorites, it has been discontinued and the manufacturer has no intentions of reintroducing it!

If you did find some, it would be more for “show” as the gum would be quite old!

    Thanks for visiting candyblog.org!

    Regards,

However Beechies gum is still available in the states as promotional items from Richardson Brands. I think it’s the same gum. They are still sold in South Africa by Stimurol (Beechies that is). I think Kraft must still hold the rights to the name there and it’s still quite popular it seems.

  5. Melissa…

That was a very nice post, I’m proud of you!…

  6. I always loved Beech Nut Peppermint Gum, but can’t find it any more. I was told the only Beech Nut gum still made is the Bubble Gum. Is anything similar to the old Beech Nut Peppermint gum available?

I actually have an old pack (unopened) of Beech-Nut Spearmint Gum! I’m not sure how old it is, but I found it in a house we recently purchased. the house was built in 1939 & I found the pack as well as some other old stuff that had fallen through a built in shelf in the dining room! I wish I could find a website that could tell me how old or how much this stuff might be worth! Any suggestions….

When I was a kid, when we went on road trips, if we stopped at a gas station to get snacks, I would ALWAYS get an Alpine White bar. I cannot find them anywhere anymore!!!! HELP!!

  10. Terri Sands says:

I have several of the small boxes of Beech Nut gum ( two pieces in each box). Also some empty boxes. I have my Grandmother’s purse as it was when she passed away in 1953, and the gum is in it. There are also a few sticks of gum but no wrappers on them-= very dried out but still in one piece.

  11. Diana Colins says:

My Dad who will soon be 75 found a very old unopened pack of Beechnut gum in an old suit while cleaning out his closet. He tells my 19 year old son stories about how the flavor “never ended” and he would chew the same piece of gum “for days.” My Dad was very poor growing up and he tells the story “when I was lucky enough to get a piece of gum…” He said he would stick the gum to his bed frame at night and continue chewing it the next day and the next and the next…My Dad would love to buy more Beechnut gum so he can open the pack he has and chew it to see if it really is what he remembers. Any suggestions?

  12. Diana Harrell says:

I also would love to have some Beechnut peppermint flavored gum. That and teaberry was all I chewed growing up. I don’t think it is available but the flavor never went away no matter how long you chewed it. That was the only gum I wanted to stick on my bed post at night!!

I also loved alpine white and haven’t seen one in a LONG time!! MANN, I use to walk to 7-11 with my grandfather when I was about 5 or 6 and I would always get one of those..I heard they discontinued them in the late 80′s. I think it would be fun to find one again. I also don’t see big league chew anymore. This is an awesome log, btw..I stumbled upon it looking for sites that have information about alpine white, haha!!

I am looking for a South African/English candy bar called the “7′s Bar”. It was a candy bar I used to eat all the time in South Africa back in 1997. But as I search for it I can’t find it anywhere. Anybody know anything about it?

I am trying to remember the name of a candy bar we used to eat in Southern California when I was small-early fifties. It had sections-and I know one of them was topped with a brazil nut. I can’t remember what the other sections had on them. I was thinking it was named something like Four Musketeers, but can’t find that.

I had also tried to remember what candy bar was wrapped in a light green crackly wrapper. I had thought it was the Mars bar but couldn’t remember. I finally saw a book on ebay with the Mars bar on the cover and there was the candy-Mars for sure.

It’s rough to try to remember something no one else seems to know what you are talking about. Please help.
