Kidsmania Dino Doo, Llama Doo, and Unicorn Doo are truly unique!

January 5, 2023 by

CandyFavorites is proud to present three fun and whimsical products from Kidsmania, one of our favorite novelty candy manufacturers – Llama Doo, Unicorn Doo, and Dino Doo.

These three candy “poopers” are perfect for a conversation starter or for someone who is looking for a good laugh, as the creatures are as adorable as the candy is delicious. They surely offer a new take on a candy dispenser!

A Llama with a rainbow mane is a rarity, but that is just. one more reason why Llama Doo is a winner.

Llama Doo is an adorable tan llama with a rainbow mane that has the unique ability to “poop” yummy candy pellets with a simple twist of its elongated neck!

Unicorn Doo is as cute as it is whimsical. A true conversation starter!

Unicorn Doo’s rainbow-colored design makes it look magical, and as you pull it’s tail, candy pellets will come out of its bottom , only adding to one’s sense of wonder – or bewilderment or perhaps disgust.

We admit that a purple dinosaur is pushing the limits , but Dino Doo is adorable!

Finally, Dino Doo’s prehistoric-resembling creature, in colors never before seen in nature, will produce an absolute “poopload” of candy with every squeeze. After all, dinosaurs were massive creatures!

These candies make for fun gifts and lighthearted conversations and combine a childlike fascination with an adult-sized portion of candy. Unlike so many other novelty candies these days, they are in stock too.

Who could ask for more?

Our Candy Blogger Hannah’s Unique Take on Candy

January 3, 2023 by

My Controversial Takes on Candy

As a candy blogger and self-professed lover of almost all things sweet, I have my takes on what candy bars are “good” and which are “bad.” Still, of course, these opinions are my own, as candy is very subjective!

People can be chocolate lovers, gummi fanatics, or just love a mix of everything. I am a chocolate lover, but not exclusively.

Of course, occasionally, I enjoy an excellent gummy or sour treat. My favorite candy is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, precisely their Big Cup

Throughout my life, I have learned that some of my takes on candy are controversial because my opinions aren’t commonly held.

Having Reese’s as a favorite candy is not a controversial take; it’s a popular one considering that over 200 Million – yes, 200,000,000  – are sold yearly.

To go through my controversial takes on candy, let’s start with my “likes.”

These are candies that I find to be delicious, but they are less popular with other people.

First off, I love Baby Ruth bars. I fell in love with them when their miniature version appeared in a candy bowl on my mother’s desk in the lower school at Winchester Thurston, one of the oldest schools in Pittsburgh, where she works and where my sister and I went to school.

Although this candy bar isn’t nearly as popular as its competitors, it should be.

My next take is that Mr.Goodbar is also incredibly delicious.

Unfortunately, this candy bar gets hidden in the candy world. However, it is highly prevalent in Halloween fun-sized mixed bags. This is a shame since the peanut adds so much texture to this highly underrated candy bar.

My final take is on the 3 Musketeers bar. It is my second favorite candy of all time!

Every year on Halloween, when I was younger, I would end up with many 3 Musketeers bars because many of my friends wanted to get rid of them.

Now time for my even more controversial takes on candy.

I don’t want to come across as being negative, but as any candy lover knows, we have our favorites…

Many people would assume that because I love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, I would automatically love Butterfingers. After all, they both have a delicious base of peanut butter. However, I am not fond of the texture of Butterfingers.

I recently wanted to try them again to see if I still didn’t like them. So let’s say I won’t be opening another Butterfinger again soon.

Finally, my last two takes are certainly the most controversial, but I must say them. Finally, I prefer something other than Starbursts or regular Skittles Fruit Chews. Of course, I will eat them both, but let’s remember that I am a chocolate lover at heart.

Some people dislike chocolate – I have difficulty comprehending how this can be true – while others dislike fruity tastes. However, this may be why thousands of candy bars exist, and here’s a fun fact.

Did you know that 65 percent of all American Candy Bars have been around for over 80 years?

The beautiful thing about candy is that there is one for everybody.

So the New Year is a perfect time to try new things and, in this case, SWEETEN your horizons! This is undoubtedly one resolution that will be easy to keep!

A Look Back at Our Year + A Thank You

December 22, 2022 by

As we close out this year with the holidays, we wanted to thank our customers and members of the Candy Favorites family.

It is no secret that this year has had its challenges with candy shortages, but there has also been so much sweet joy that has come with this year. We could not have had a successful year without your support.

We started the year in January by extending our bagged candy selection opinions and getting Old Dominion Peanut Blocks and Reese’s popcorn in stock.

Unfortunately, in February, we had a shortage of Valentine’s Day candies, but we unveiled the secret behind Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, their golden ratio of peanut butter and chocolate.

In March, we conducted reviews of our favorite bagged Ferrara Candy company treats and another review of the many different types of marshmallows that we offer. April brought sweet news with candy manufacturers starting to ship out new products, and we got to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Haribo Gold Bears with their Limited Edition bags.

In May, we attempted to set candy world records and got the news that lime Skittles were back! In June, we found the top 10 candies of the summer and compared all the different types of Smarties to one another.

July was even more exciting, with our candies being sold at a classic store in our hometown, Pittsburgh, and the celebration of our 95th birthday.

In August, we introduced our candy concierge service, which hopes to bring quality customer service to the candy industry. Our President, Jon Prince, was also featured on Alison Stewart’s WNEW podcast “All of it” in August.

We started September with new Efrutti Gummi candies and exciting announcements about our new sweets. October was a month of celebration as we celebrated national M&M day and the candy holiday of the year, Halloween.

While November started on a sad note with candy cane shortages, we ended on a sweet note by celebrating Reese’s 94th birthday.

This month, December, has been full of festivities celebrating the holidays. But, of course, none of this would have been possible without your valued support and shared love for sweets. If you want to read more about our year, check out our other blog posts that detail all these moments.

We want to extend gratitude to our supporters and fellow candy lovers for another great year in the candy industry. We hope that we added a bit of sweetness to your year and wish you a joyful holiday season with lots of love, happiness, and sweets!

Thank you for the great year! We can’t wait for another one in 2023!

It Isn’t the Holidays Without a Sweet Gingerbread House!

December 2, 2022 by

One of my favorite parts of the holidays is gingerbread houses.

I make at least one every year, and usually, my family participates in the annual Pittsburgh Gingerbread House competition.

We use every candy known to man to construct a masterpiece, and it never turns out to be a classic gingerbread house or a house at all. Still, it doesn’t have to be for the competition.

When we first started the competition, we built a giant Rubber Ducky out of Candy and Rice Krispy treats.

A GIANT Rubber ducky made of Candy and Rice Krispies!

The following year we created a HUGE Lego Man…

This is, indeed, a HUGE Lego Man!

The following year, we did a scene with Minions popping out of Holiday presents.

Have a Merry Minion Christmas!

A few years later, we built a location from the Lorax…

Look who is coming to the holiday dinner table… LORAX!

In 2020, the last year we entered, we made a gorgeous GINGERBREAD HOUSE!

This is one SWEET Log Cabin!

Looking back at all the pictures of the structures we made over the years brings me so much joy. We built structures out of sweets, and we did it together.

Last year though, we had a gingerbread failure.

We attempted to make the most challenging “house” that we could think of, the iconic Harry Potter castle, and let’s just say it didn’t go well. We didn’t end up submitting the piece because we didn’t finish it, but it was still fun.

Making gingerbread houses has always been a tradition for my family, one I value and love.

Unfortunately, we only won a ribbon for our participation in the contest. Still, we never cared because it was all about spending time together and creating a sweet masterpiece!

This isn’t to say that you must enter a city-wide competition to enjoy the fun. Instead, bake your gingerbread, or buy a kit. Both are making a gingerbread house.

Everyone knows that a gingerbread house could never be complete without the candy that goes on it. Without the candy, it would only be a structure.

Candy brings a gingerbread house to life.

It can be hard to search for the right candies to fit your gingerbread house, which is where we help you with your gingerbread house construction project.

Here is our complete guide to building a gingerbread house to tell you which candies belong where and to assist you in the overall design. Of course, I have some expertise in gingerbread house construction, especially with extreme projects extending beyond a classic house. Still, this guide is only for traditional gingerbread houses.

Use this guide as a shopping list, a starting point, or inspiration. We are here to offer you all the candy for your gingerbread houses and beyond.

Part of the fun of building a gingerbread house is eating the candy while making it, so pick up some delicious treats and get to the building and please send us a picture of your creation too.

Help Us Celebrate the 94th Birthday of the Beloved Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup!

November 15, 2022 by
Celebrate the 94th Birthday of one of the most popular candy flavor combinations of all time!

With the most profound pleasure, I announce that today, November 15, 2022, is the 94th birthday of the beloved Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup!

Ninety-four years ago, on this very day, Harry Burnett Reese invented this peanut butter and chocolate delight in his basement.

Reese was a former employee of The Hershey Company and left to start his own business, which eventually bought his candy in 1963 and sells it today. Although Mr.Reesesold the company back to Hershey, it’s safe to say that his candy was a success because today, it makes up 2 BILLION DOLLARS in sales yearly.

At first, the peanut butter cups were called “Penny Cups” because the peanut butter cups were sold for only a penny. Now a pack of peanut butter cups sells for about $2.50, thanks to nine decades and inflation.

These cups aren’t sold today in their original shape. Instead, during the holidays, they come in holiday shapes, like an egg for spring or a Christmas tree for Christmas. It usually comes in anything from a mini cup to an oversized one – think of the new Big Cups and Ultimate Peanut Butter Lovers -and all are delicious.

As one of Reese’s biggest fans, I am excited to celebrate their birthday!

Reese’s is how I got my start with Candy Favorites. I wrote my first blog post, titled “The Golden Secret of Reese’s that Keeps You Coming Back,” on its perfect balance of peanut butter and chocolate.

Then, I wrote an article this past summer called “The Face-Off of the Century: Which Reese’s Product Will Come Out on Top?” about trying different Reese’s products to find my favorite. I even wrote an article about Reese’s University that discusses everything from admissions to athletics for the (imaginary) university.

I love Reese’s and almost everything about them. I love unwrapping the chocolate and plopping it in my mouth. Each time I have one, it feels like I am trying them for the first time. They are just as delicious, creamy, and rich as the first time I had one. They remind me of my family, tasty treats, and fun times.

But Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are about so much more than chocolate and peanut butter.

This celebration honors a beloved candy combination that has brought joy to friends and families for over nine decades and has become one of Planet Earth’s most popular candy bars!

So HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Reese’s, and THANK YOU, Harry, for leaving an extra sweet imprint on our lives!

If you want to enjoy a Reese’s treat in honor of their 94th birthday, place an order on CandyFavorites.com and enter the coupon code “CFREESESBDAY” for 10% off Reese’s products through November 16, 2022.

Enjoy a 10% discount on all Reese’s products on CandyFavorites.com until November 16th in honor of their 94th birthday!

The Great Candy Cane Shortage Continues!

November 7, 2022 by
Candy Canes are still in short supply so we encourage you to order early!

We see many elements of the holiday season as vital—for example, ice skating, decorating, baking, cooking, spreading kindness, and candy canes.

Candy Canes symbolize the holiday season; seeing them in any other season is strange, but ironically, they sell year-round. They are used to decorate trees in baking and add flavor to our holiday season, and some even crush them to use as garnish for a cocktail or topping for baked goods.

Candy Canes being such a crucial element to the holidays also means they hold status and priority on our holiday shopping lists.

Unfortunately, this demand for candy canes has created a shortage for this upcoming holiday season.

In the candy world, businesses have been hit with rising prices and supply chain issues. In addition, last year, the candy industry faced the “Great Candy Cane Crisis of 2021“, a mass shortage of candy canes, and it’s sad to say we are still feeling the effects a year later.

We should change the name to the Great Candy Cane Crisis of 2022. Last year the candy cane shortage was partially caused by a fungus, verticillium wilt, which can wipe out entire fields of mint at a time.

Another reason is the supply chain issues we have faced in the aftermath of the initial COVID lockdown.

Production of Peppermint Oil has been down by 25 % in the past few years, making the stock of oil substantially lower than it is supposed to be. This shortage, in turn, affects the production of items such as the beloved red and white striped Peppermint Candy Canes!

This ingredient shortage of global resources has impacted production and stock from all types of businesses, including, unfortunately, the candy industry.

These supply chains are made internationally, and setbacks are made through countries’ supply chain issues and our own. These ripple effects will happen for years, and the impact of production delays will worsen before it, hopefully, gets better.

This year candy canes are hard to find but especially the mini ones (our personal favorites).

Candy Canes are a crucial element of the holiday season, and with a little bit of forward planning, you should be able to, yet again, enjoy a candy that has been bringing holiday cheer for decades.

If you need large quantities, we encourage you to order early. You can even contact us and arrange for a later delivery date too!

As the ol’ expression goes, “an ounce of prevention will beat a pound of cure.”

New Candy & Snacks – November 2022

November 1, 2022 by
New Candy and Snacks - September 2022

It is hard to believe that 2022 has two months left. It seems like yesterday that we were enjoying summer and, blink, now it is November!

Halloween was the closest it has been to “normal” in the past few years, and supply chain issues seem to be resolving, albeit slowly.

We have a vast selection of Christmas Candy, including an ample supply of Candy Canes in high demand due to a nationwide shortage of Peppermint Oil.

This list features nonseasonal items, and we will be adding to it weekly.

As always, if you need custom packaging or are looking for large quantities, please reach out to us at support@candyfavorites.com

Atkinson Sugar-Free Chick-0-Sticks taste so good, you won’t know they are sugarless!

11074 – Atkinson Sugar-Free Chiko-O-Sticks – 3 lb.

We are unsure if we love this product because of its 1950s retro vibe and whimsical name or because these new sugar-free versions, flavored with Splenda, taste delicious. Still, we know this product is a winner and one of the best-tasting sugarless options available.

11073 – Atkinson Sugar-Free Peanut Butter Bars – 3 lb.

The bottom line is that if a product tastes as good today as it did when it was invented in 1947 and if that product just happens to be as delicious in a sugar-free version then it is a “winner.” This distinction surely applies to our new Atkinson Sugar-Free Peanut Bars.

Our latest addition to our Select Label, the Penny Candy Americana Mix, is our hottest new item!

45151 – CandyFavorites Americana Penny Candy Bags – 6 ct.

Perhaps the best-selling item we offer is our American Penny Candy Mix. It was initially made for a famous retail clothing chain looking for a premium candy mix in silver bowls to compliment their checkout counters.

Based on the success of this product in bulk, we thought it was only fitting to be the first of our new “Select” Bag candy offerings.

Navy Blue Swizzles Sticks match just about anything!

40164 – Blue Rock Candy Swizzle Stick Jars – 36 ct.

Swizzle Sticks are perfect for many uses as they are as colorful as they are practical and can be enjoyed in any season.

These delicious Blue Raspberry Swizzle Sticks are individually wrapped and have a dark blue color that matches just about everything!

Toxic Waste Slime Lickers Squeeze Candy might be the next new craze!

42180 – Toxic Waste Slime Licker 2.47 oz. Squeeze Candy – 12 ct.

Featuring three super sour flavors – Cherry, Blue Razz, and Green Apple – and cool graphics, this new addition to the Slime Licker Family might spark the next Tik Tok craze!

Candy Canes are in VERY short supply in 2022?

October 18, 2022 by
It is hard to believe that there will be a candy cane shortage in 2022!

Can you imagine a holiday season without candy canes?

That’s like asking if you could imagine Halloween without Pumpkins, Thanksgiving without Turkey – unless you are a vegetarian or vegan – the 4th of July without Fireworks, or Easter without Jelly Beans!

It may sound improbable, even impossible, but the shortage of Peppermint Oil continues, and Candy Canes are almost impossible to find, especially the beloved miniature ones! According to industry insiders, production is down by over 25 percent!

YIKES!

After searching high and low, far and wide, and up and down, our persistent and ever-resourceful buyers were fortunate to source miniature candy canes in bulk, but they are in VERY short supply.

We are giving our valued customers the first chance to purchase these red and white holiday gems.

To view this year’s selection of CANDY CANES, please click HERE.

If you are looking for an ample supply or want to arrange a later shipping date, please get in touch with us at support@candyfavorites.com.

Order early, as will not be able to reorder later in the season once we are sold out!

October 13th is National M&M’s Day!

October 12, 2022 by
Celebrate with us through October 14th with a special discount on all M&M’s products on CandyFavorites.com

Happy National M&M’s Day!

Yes, you read the title correctly! October 13th is National M&M’s Day, a sure day to celebrate!

Being an M&M’s lover, I knew I had to celebrate as soon as I discovered that there was a specific day set aside to celebrate one of the most famous candies ever created!

In anticipation, I took a trip to the M&M’s store in New York City. I won’t lie, I was already going to New York City, and this seemed like a perfect excuse to go to my favorite store in Times Square.

As soon as my friends and I turned the corner into Times Square, I saw a giant M&M’s lighting up the sky, tempting all NYC visitors to stop inside for a bite of pure joy.

M&M’s come in all colors, shapes, and sizes!

Outside of the store, they have a giant electronic billboard with animations of their M&M’s characters, 5 giant M&M’s with all their different colors on the corner of the building, and a billboard featuring an M&M’s climbing up the side of the Empire State Building, mimicking to the image of King Kong climbing up the side of it.

You can also see through the multiple floors, making it seem less of a brand’s store and more of a dream candy land.

Everything from the candy wall, the characters’ stories, and all the excellent merchandise. M&M’s first started featuring characters in their advertisements in 1954, just 13 years after their creation.

Until recently, there were 6 characters in the lineup: Yellow, Red, Orange, Brown, Blue, and Green, each color having its own personality.

In 2022, M&M’s added a new color – PURPLE!

A few days ago, drum roll, please; they added a new character, Purple

It will be interesting to see how they will integrate this new addition to the M&M’s candy family into their iconic Superbowl commercials and brand personality. After all, family dynamics can be tricky even in the sweet candy world!

When you walk into the store, each character has their own small devoted section to their own merch; there is even a mug wall in the store where each character has their own mug. So it’s safe to say these characters are a massive part of M&M’s success over the years.

There are 3 sections to the massive M&M’s wall. The difference in the M&M’s range in the flavors themself, the texture, and the colors.

National M&M’s Day is surely a reason to celebrate!

M&M’s come in just about every color in the rainbow and then some! . They have every taste, from Almond to Brownie Batter (my personal favorite) to Cookies and Scream (a seasonal flavor).

I grabbed a bag off the wall and started filling it till my heart was content. I got Brownie Batter, Lavender-colored M&M’s, Crunchy Cookies, and many other flavors.

After getting a pound of M&M’s and being delighted by one of the most highly colorful stores in the world, I decided (sadly) that it was time to leave.

Throughout my day in New York City, I munched on various M&M’s with my friends, a snack that we all enjoyed and kept us going when we felt tired from walking the whole day.

You may not be able to easily visit the M&M’s Store in New York, but worry not; we offer a massive selection of these beloved chocolate-covered candies at CandyFavorites.com!

To celebrate this holiday of this delicious candy, we are offering 10% off all M&M’s products from October 12th-14th!

Who said that October 13th can’t be one of the sweetest days of the year?
