I have to admit I’m usually not a fan of fruit inside my chocolates. And when I say I’m not a fan, every time I bite into a chocolate with fruit flavored filling, it usually ends up in a gross, slobbery mess inside of a napkin.

I tentatively took my first bite of the cherry cordial expecting the same sickly sweet fruity flavor of most fruit fillings, but I was quite pleasantly surprised. Within the chocolate shell, surrounding the maraschino cherry, is a sweet goopy filling. It has the same consistency of the stretchy, soft caramel in Caramello chocolates. I’m not sure what exactly the filling is, some sort of deliciously sweet, milky substance. Whatever it is, it makes this candy what it is. The milk chocolate blend, with the goopy sweetness, and the fruity cherry creates a perfect trifecta of flavors. This candy is classy too. Place them around the edges of a plate filled with fruit and you can serve that for dessert to Obama at his grand table in the white house.

You might remember Brach’s Christmas time Villa Cherries (I’ll admit that I don’t), which were discontinued in 2003. These may not be the original Villa Cherries that you all knew and loved, but they are new and improved. Whatever those Villa Cherries may have tasted like, I can tell you that these Brach’s Milk Chocolate Covered  Cherry Cordials  taste even better.

So whether you are going to the Obama’s for dinner, or it’s Christmas(/Chanukah) time,  or it’s right now, the cherry cordials’ trifecta of sweetness will leave you with your eyes closed and absentmindedly expressing your satisfaction through the universal “mmmmmm…”

I don’t see much Brach’s anymore, but I remember so fondly those grocery store bulk racks. So thanks for reminding me of some fond memories! Never tried the cherry cordials, I’m still not sure I can get past my suspicion of a big gloopy squirt if I bite the wrong way. But your review makes me think of Spumoni ice cream, which I love, so maybe it is worth the risk…

why were they discontinued with them being so well liked? now that a different version is being produced, why can’t it have the original formula???????

I have eaten these things for as long as I can remember and when you discontinued them in ’03 I just couldn’t believe it. I about had a heart attack when I saw them back on the shelf last christmas but they are not even close to the same as they were. Why?

I remember back as a kid when my grandmother would give my older brother and I our very own box of Brach’s Villa Cherries as a Christmas Gift. The box colors were originally red and white with a picture of an elf. Later the package was brown and the elf was eliminated. I looked for this product over the Christmas 2002 and could not locate it anywhere. I asked a store manager to order some boxes but he was informed that Brachs had completely dicontinued this product. I started buying Queen Anne (not even close to as good as Brachs!) Last year I was excited to find out that Brach’s brought back the similar product. I am excited to celebrate Christmas again!

I love Brach’s Chocolate cherries and have been eating them since the 1970’s. I am trying to purchase a few boxes and cannot locate any in any store. I Love Them. I was so disappointed when they were discontinued in 2003. They are the best!

We still do not know why Brach’s discontinued their great cheery cordials.

I am really disappointed brachs cherry chocolates can’t be found anywhere anymore. I looked forward to them every year. Christmas is different without my cherry chocolates. Very disappointing brachs discontinued them.

My uncle and I enjoyed buying Brach’s Cordial Cherries every Christmas. We could hardly wait when November came. They were a truly sweet treat. I just wish our local grocery store would have them to sell. Even Walmart should have them but they don’t.

We can only hope they return as they were one of the best-selling holiday items of all time! They weren’t available in 2020 but let’s keep our fingers crossed for next year!

My father faithfully purchased Brach’s chocolate covered cherries every December. We children loved them. I prefer them over others that are on the market. Giving a box to each of my six sibblings and 2 nieces at Christmas is a wordless message understood by all. I cannot find these wonderful nostalgic treats. Please help keep memories and tradition alive.

We only wish that Brachs would realize that Villa Cherries were a Christmas tradition. They have discontinued almost all of their classic candies…. As to why remains a mystery!

I’m very sad that you don’t have brachs christmas cherries 🍒 anymore. I’m 72 years young and every year I would buy 2 boxes and wrap them up for my little brother who in now is 65 from Santa. The other brands are awful. Please bring them back.
