Did you know that Raspberry Red Dollars were introduced by Heide Candy Company in 1926 and were oval pieces of gum emblazoned with the classic dollar sign

The name, however, has nothing to do with flavor as it was derived from a slang expression that means something new, innovative or popular

The original flavor was Raspberry and it wasn't until the 1940's that the name was changed to Red Raspberry Dollars to reflect the flavor of the candy

Approximately 350 pieces per pound

In the 1950's, this candy was 2 for a penny. I would take a quarter from my mom to buy Red raspberry dollars because I was addicted to them and would have 50 pieces of candy in my pockets. I still love them now.
