My mom is a very passionate person and she loves sweets! Her favorite type of candy is Necco wafers! Her entire life she has always had a roll in a drawer or a pocket, stashed in the glove box in the car, wherever she is she has them with her.
One year at Halloween my dad got her a plastic caldroun and filled it with small rolls of Necco wafers and left it on her desk at work, she laughed as she ate them... shucking wrappers here and there. It has always been something to surprise her with and amusing to watch her eat them.
The very first cookie jar she owned (and it is still in the kitchen on the shelf) was a Necco glass cookie jar with a black metal top and "Necco" written in gold. Yes it is banged up and well used but is still in one piece! This year we were happy to see that Necco wafers are going back to being "natural". I am ordering her the retro Necco tin and of course many wafers to fill it more than once as a Christmas gift. I hope that this story is enjoyed by others, as it is an endearing tale of someone with passion!
