Milk Duds were made in 1928 with the intention of having a round caramel candy. After ruling out perfecting a sphere shape with chewy caramel they decided the term “dud” should be included in the name. Also, with milk being one of the ingredients the final name of the candy came to be Milk Duds.

While the expectations of the candy shape turn out to be a dud, the candy taste certainly was not!
