According to Hershey Chocolate, HERSHEY'S KISSES, a little product with a big future, were first introduced in 1907.

While it's not known exactly how KISSES got their name, it is a popular theory that the candy was named for the sound or motion of the chocolate being deposited during the manufacturing process.

Please note that in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the beloved Kiss, the tags have sayings on them similar to that of a conversation heart mixed in with the classic Hershey's paper banner

My friend and I loved Mary Jane candy so much, we would go to the subway station, get the name of the vendor who sold Mary Janes in the machines, make up a false story to the candy being defective, and happily wait a free package of Mary Janes to be delivered by the postman in the following weeks. It was unethical, but lots of fun.
