The Cold War started in the 1950s and as the Superpowers were building nuclear arsenals and flexing their muscles , Nello Ferrara, the son of the founder of Ferrara Pan, came up with the idea to create a spicy candy named Atomic Fireballs

Launched in 1954, we have to believe that the Cold War influenced the naming of this candy although we have no proof.
